The Student Publications Committee was responsible for oversee student body publications such as the Daily Universe, the Banyan, Student Directory, BYU Handbook, and the activity calendar. Until 1949, the Student Publications Committee was endowed with responsibility of screening all prospective editors of the student newspaper because all editors needed a committee endorsement. However, after 1949 editors were simply appointed to their position instead of being subjected to a screening. Chairmen of this committee include H.R.
