Functions
Space Utilization was a very new field at the time of its establishment at BYU and its functions were innovative for its time. The function of Space Utilization is to effectively manage the university's space resources for campus functions and church use, by identifying and allocating space to campus and church units for a specific function or purpose; assist in planning for the future facility needs of the university and BYU stakes and wards; insuring optimum use of the university's space resources; and act as a facilitator in the use and occupancy of space. Space Management coordinates building use for both academic and church purposes. The department is responsible for historical records and record-keeping of space scheduling.
Assets and Administrative Structure
Space Utilization reported to The Assistant Administrative Vice-President (1987) and later to the director of Business Support (1988-1996).
