The Office of Space Management Department is headed by Anne B. Schroeder (1996- ) during its operation under the Physical Facilities Division. Its predecessor is Space Utilization.

Functions
The function of Space Management is to effectively manage the university's space resources for campus functions and church use, by identifying and allocating space to campus and church units for a specific function or purpose; assisting in planning for the future facility needs of the university and BYU stakes and wards; insuring optimum use of the university's space resources; and acting as a facilitator in the use and occupancy of space. Space Management coordinates building use for both academic and church purposes.
Space Management manages space in facilities on campus. Space is a University resource and is allocated to users for a specific function or purpose. New space requests should be referred to Space Management through the College Representative. Colleges/departments are to coordinate all space changes with Space Management.
Space Management also maintains a limited stock of used furniture for authorized University use.

Space Management is administered under a director who reported to the Assistant Administrative Vice-President of the Physical Facilities Division.
