Formerly Disabled Student Support, Services for Students with Disabilities was established in 1994 and was housed in the Counseling and Development Center, under the direction of David M. Sorenson. In 2002, the Services of Students with Disabilities changed to the University Accessibility Center.

Functions

Services for Students with Disabilities focused on the mission of ensuring that disabled students were provided access to university programs. Assistance was offered to mobility impaired students to access classes and other campus facilities. Other services offered through this office included: sign language interpreters, TDD communication devices, volunteer reader lists, library lockers, study rooms, VisualTeks, taped textbooks, cassette players, Braille writers, and an adapted computer with enlarged characters and speech synthesis.
