In 1975, the Brigham Young University Security department became the Brigham Young University Security/Police department. The purpose of the department is to protect campus and to regulate on-campus parking. The Chief of Campus Security was Robert W. Kelshaw (1975-1982). In 1982 the unit was renamed University Police.
