Functions

The School of Nursing was originally organized due to the reorientation of national nursing education programs to collegiate environments. It was deemed necessary to have the church's nursing education centered at Brigham Young University.

Assets and Administrative Structure

The School of Nursing functioned under several deans, beginning with Vivian Hansen in 1952, who resigned and was replaced by a nonmember in 1954. Many faculty positions had to be filled by nonmembers due to a shortage of qualified nurses.
