Brigham Young University. Purchasing Dept.

The Purchasing Department was created in 1921 to have a single department in charge of purchasing all supplies and services for the university. In 1973 the Purchasing Department was merged into the Church Central Purchasing Department of the Church of Jesus Christ, but retained its name. Head purchasing agents included Kiefer Sauls (1921-1946), and Cornelius R. Peterson (1946-1975).

Functions

The function of the Purchasing Department was to purchase any supplies or services required by the university and distribute accordingly. This includes food services, furniture, gasoline for university vehicles, and materials for campus grounds. In additions the BYU Pucharsing Department facilitated purchasing for all Church Education System schools for a time.
