The Program Bureau was formed in 1958, formerly called the Student Program Bureau. The bureau was organized to perform and tour different performing groups within the Universities. Chairman have included John D. Burnett (1958), James H. Lawrence (1959-1973), Janie Thompson (1974-1976), and K. Newell Dayley (1976-1978)

Functions
The Program Bureau main function was to set up nationwide and worldwide performances and tours for the performing groups on campus. These include the Letterman, Fieldhouse Frolics, Startime BYU, 15 Carat Gold, the Curtain Time USA (later known as Young Ambassadors), Sounds of Freedom, and the Lamanite Generation (later known as Living Legends).

The Program Bureau acted under the office of Public Relations. The bureau was run by a chairman and a creative director.
