Brigham Young University. Placement Bureau

The Placement Bureau was established in 1952 as a centralized organization to work with all college deans and department chairs of the University in the placement of graduates, as well as to provide a systematic and more effective service to students who need and desire employment while attending school. Since then Placement Bureau extended to include service in three areas: Senior and Graduate Placement, Student Employment, and Staff Personnel. Placement Bureau mostly assisted those looking for jobs in business, industry, government, and education. Placement Bureau had an established library for magazines and brochures about companies, jobs, interviews, letters of application, how to find employment, etc. Students were encouraged to register with the Placement Bureau at the beginning of the school year in which they would graduate. Placement Bureau developed and expanded from a part-time employment office that existed previously. In 1961, Placement Bureau changed its name to Placement Center. B. Keith Duffin was the director (1952-1961).
