The Placement Bureau was established in -- as a student service. It existed for the purpose of assisting graduating students and alumni find jobs (specifically in business, industry, government, and education). Placement Bureau had an established library for magazines and brochures about companies, jobs, interviews, letters of application, how to find employment, resumes, etc. Placement Bureau worked closely with all the deans and department chairmen. Students were encouraged to register with the Placement Bureau at the beginning of the school year in which they would graduate. B. Keith Duffin was the director (1957-1968).

Placement Bureau functioned under a director: B. Keith Duffin (1957-1969) and under a Manager: R. Wayne Hansen (1970-1976). In 1968, Duffin became the Director of University Personnel Services. Placement Bureau had the following subordinates: Teacher Education (-); Educational Placement (1964-); Staff Employment Supervisor, Donald R. Lyman (1964-1968); and Technical Placement (1964-1970), Supervisor R. Wayne Hansen.
