Multicultural Student Services (MSS) was established as a division within Student Life in 1997 when Multicultural Programs was renamed. MSS is administered by a director. Past and present MSS Directors include: Vernon Heperi (1997-2003), Lisa M. Muranaka (2003-2009), and Lisa Parkinson (2009-)

Functions

From 1997 to 1998 Multicultural Student Services published Eagle's Eye, supported Lamanite Generation, and helped American minority students succeed in college work by providing proper support through its assistance divisions. These divisions include: Multicultural Academic Advisement, Multicultural Financial Awards, and Student Service Association. In 1998, MSS restructured the assistance divisions to include: Multicultural Counseling, Off-Campus Education, On-Campus Education, and Publications. The following year (1999) Off-Campus Housing was removed and Multicultural Financial Aid was added to MSS. In 2000 Career Training and Multicultural Student Organization were also added. In 2001 Multicultural Financial Aid was removed and a division called Multicultural Scholarships was added. In 2002 the Multicultural Student Organization was removed from Multicultural Student Services. In 2003 the Recruitment division was added. In 2006 Career Training was removed. In 2007 Multicultural Counseling and Recruitment were removed and Multicultural Advisement and Recruitment and College Preparation Programs were added.
