Multicultural Counseling was established within Multicultural Student Services in 1998. It was administered by a Multicultural Counseling Coordinator. Kenneth Sekaquaptewa served as the Multicultural Counseling Coordinator from 1998 to 2001. In 2007 Multicultural Counseling was renamed Multicultural Advisement.

Functions
Multicultural Counseling functioned as an available support system that helped multicultural students be successful by the university's standards. Counselors helped students discover services on campus that would further their academic, social, and spiritual success.
