The Mexican American Studies program was created in 1979. Functions

The Mexican American Studies Program is designed to give the student both a rich background in the language, culture, and conditions of the Mexican American and specific job training. The program gave students the opportunity to receive a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts degrees.

The studies program was administered by a program coordinator, under the direction of the college dean. This program was under the direction of the Center for International Studies which was jointly sponsored by the College of Social Sciences and the College of Humanities.
