The Latin-American Studies program was created in 1965 under the joint administration of the College of Humanities and the College of Social Sciences.  The program was also under the direction of the International and Area Studies program and later the David M. Functions

The Latin-American Studies program was an interdepartmental and inter-college area program which lead to the B.A. degree. The program was designed to enhance the employment opportunities for students seeking employment in business or government in Latin America. It offered a broad education in the study of languages, literature, culture, geography, politics, history, and economy of Latin-America.

Assets and Administrative Structure

The Latin-American Studies program was administered by the program coordinator, under the direction of the College of Humanities dean as well as the College of Social Sciences dean (later College of Family, Home, and Social Sciences). The program was also administered by the International and Area Studies program as well as the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies.
