The Indian Education Program was established in 1955 as a Brigham Young University Program under the direction of an Indian Education Committee. The original committee consisted of S. Lyman Tyler as chairman, Shelby Clark as a member, and Robert Gwilliam as Advisor to Indian Students.  In 1964 the Indian Education Program became the American Indian Education Program in the General College under the direction Paul E.
