Functions

Freshman Academy is a program that lasts one semester and assists in the integration of new students into the university milieu and the connection of these students with campus resources. This is accomplished by organizing students into small groups called learning communities, where these groups enroll in the same courses and have peer mentors from among the upperclassmen.

Assets and Administrative Structure

The Freshman Academy program is overseen by a director and associate director. Originally a part of and administered by the Office of First-Year Experience (formerly Freshman Year Office), Freshman Academy now exists as an independent unit which reports directly to the Dean of Undergraduate Education.
