Financial Aids was created in 1980 to oversee all matters of Financial Aid. By 1989 Financial Aids was made a subunit within Admissions and Records and no longer had its own director. The director of Financial Aids was Ford A. Stevenson (1980-1989).

Financial Aids awarded money (grants-in-aid) to students with significant financial need and those with outstanding ACT test scores and overall GPA. Other awards were given in specific areas of superior performance. They also administered student loans.
