The Equal Employment Office was organized in University Personnel Services in 1979 to address matters of fair employment for University Employees. Managers included Myrna Pratt (1979-1990), Darlene Kelly (1990-1994), Delora Bertelsen (1996-1999), Melissa Flores (1999-2003), Julie Stevens (2003-2004), Peg Schmidt (2004-2006), and Sue DeMartini (2006- ).

Functions

The Equal Opportunity Office assists the University in its commitments by educating campus personnel on respectful behavior in the workplace and by addressing concerns about disrespectful and discriminatory behavior, including unlawful sexual harassment and inappropriate gender-based behavior.

Assets and Administrative Structure

The Equal Employment Office functioned under the direction of the Managing Director of University Personnel Services (1986-1990) and then under the Assistant Administrative Vice President of Human Resource Services since 1990: Human Resource Services 1990-1991, Benefits and Employee Relations/Equal Employment Office 1993-2001, and the Employee Relations/Equal Employment Office since 2001. The Equal Employment Office was headed by a manager.
