Functions

Main functions of the organization was to provide effective and responsive support to faculty in an effort to improve the instructional process. These services were set up not only for Brigham Young University but also the Church Educational System, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The three main divisions within the organization were the Department of Instructional Development (DID),the Department of Instructional Evaluation and Testing (DIET), and the Institute for Computer Uses in Education (ICUE).

Assets and Administrative Structure

The Division of Instructional Research, Development and Evaluation was a unit under the jurisdiction of director of Instructional Services until 1974, after which it was placed within the College of Education and reported to the dean. The organization acted under a director.

Within this division was The Instructional Development Committee, which was set up to review and make recommendations on the design of instructional programs of the University; to review and make recommendations on the media requirements of academic programs.
