Description

Established: 1970

Location: Provo, Utah (1979-)

Functions

The Discontinuance Office was established to handle the full withdrawal of a student from the University proper. It eliminated the need for an individual student to contact the Dean of their college if they wished to drop all of their classes. Previously it was the responsibility of the student, dean of their college, and dean of Student Life to collaborate together and initiate a discontinuation.

Assets and Administrative Structure

The Discontinuance Office operated under an office coordinator or director who reported to the Dean of Student Life. From 1986-1989, the Student Auxiliary Services administered the Discontinuance Office. From 1989-1994, the office reported to the Director of the Counseling and Development Center. In 2008, the office was placed within the Registar's Office.
