n 1904, the Department of Trades was officially established in the School of Arts and Industries of Brigham Young University. It taught several courses with aim of training students in various trades including as dressmakers, blacksmiths, and carpenters. In 1906, the School of Arts and Industries was renamed the School of Arts and Trades; the department's name and coursework remained the same.
