The Dept. of Theology and Religion was established and made a department within the School of Arts and Sciences in 1920 when the Church Teachers College was split. George H. Brimhall served as the Department Chairman until the School of Arts and Sciences was abolished in 1921. The department was then renamed to the Dept. of Theology and placed in the College of Arts and Sciences.
