In 1942 the name of the Department of Office Practice was renamed the Dept. of Secretarial Practice. The department was designed for prospective teachers with a business emphasis. Department chairs included Clarence S. Boyle (1942-1946) and Evan M. Croft (1946-1951). In 1951 the department's name was changed to the Dept. of Secretarial Training.
