The Department of Physiology and Developmental Biology was established by the College of Biology and Agriculture in 2002. In 2021 it was renamed to The Department of Cell Biology and Physiology. Department chairmen included Richard R. Tolman (2002-2003), R. Ward Rhees (2003-2004), James P. Porter (2004-2008), William W. Winder (2008-2012), Dixon J. Woodbury (2012-2018), and Michael Robert Stark (2018-2021).
