The Department of Physical Education-Dance was established in 1981 when the Departments of Physical Education for Men and Women were abolished. This department worked with the Department of Physical Education-Sports in providing activity courses for the entire student body. Phyllis C. Jacobson served as chairman throughout the life of the department.

Functions

The Department of Physical Education-Dance was made up of four divisions: Ballet, Ballroom, Folk, and Modern. Performances included those on and off-campus, with some groups traveling throughout the world. The general student body was also encouraged to participate in the wide variety of courses offered, which included Square Dance Calling Techniques, Dance Production, and Modern Dance Improvisation.

The Department of Physical Education-Dance functioned under the administration of a chairman under a college dean.
