In 1953, the Department of Philosophy of Education split into the Dept. of Philosophy and History of Education and the Dept. of Personnel and Guidance. The Department of Personnel and Guidance took on the counseling and guidance coursework as well as the personnel administration courses. In 1955, the department was renamed the Department of Educational Research and Services. Wesley P. Lloyd served as department chair from 1953 to 1954.
