The Dept. of Instructional Science was formed from the renamed Dept. of Curriculum and Instructional Science in 1986. The department was placed within the College of Education. Chairmen included: Paul F. Merrill (1986-1988). The department was abolished in 1988.

Functions

The department offers both undergraduate and graduate courses in the instructional science discipline. Courses are geared to teaching skills in educational research, evaluation, measurement, instructional design, and materials production. The department offers a MS and PhD in Instructional Science and a PhD in Instructional Psychology.
