Brigham Young University. Dept. of Instruction

In 1955, the Department of Instruction was created within the College of Education by combining the departments of Elementary Education, Secondary Education and parts of the Department of Education. The purpose of the department was to train teachers in every level, any special area of education, any age, and in both traditional and nontraditional classrooms and its coursework followed by offering classes on every branch of education and focusing on methodology and educational materials. In 1962, the Department was renamed the Department of Teacher Education and its coursework offerings were simplified.
