In 1905, Brigham Young University's Normal Information Courses department split into several new departments, including the Department of History and Civics. It taught several courses in American and modern history and civics. In 1906, the general education departments, including the Department of History and Civics, were absorbed by the High School. Normal Students would then take their general education classes from the High School or from the College, while still receiving teacher training coursework from the Normal School.
