The Department of General Curriculum was established in 1996 as a department within the General College. Willis Banks served as the department chair for the full time the department existed. In 1972 the Department of General Curriculum merged with the American Indian Education Department.

Functions

The Dept. of General Curriculum functioned to take care of the needs of beginning Indian Students. It offered beginning courses in sciences, math, English, history, secretarial training, etc. for both Indian and non-Indian students as they adjusted to college life.
