Brigham Young University. Dept. of Finance and Banking

In 1922, Brigham Young University created the College of Commerce and Business Administration out of the Department of Commerce and Business Administration from the College of Arts and Sciences. The Department of Finance and Banking was one of five departments created within it and it administered courses in Public Finance, Business Finance Economic History, Contracts, Property, and Investments. John C. Swensen served as department chair from 1922 to 1925.

The Department of Finance and Banking was responsible for the teaching of courses on the classes of business finance, money and banking, economic and financial history of the United States, investments, contracts, negotiable paper and agency and partnership, public finance, property, sales, corporations, corporate industry, business policy, business forecasting, financial problems in educational administration, trusts and monopolies, foreign exchange, commercial law.
