The Department of Exercise Sciences was established in 2005 when the Department of Physical Education was reorganized and abolished.  It contains many of the same goals and options as did the Department of Physical Education.  Ruel M. Barker (2005-2006), Larry T. Hall (2006- ), and Allen Clive Parcell (2016-2022) have served as chairmen. The current chair is Ty Hopkins (2022- ).
