During its first year, the College of Education did not have any separate departments for the administration of coursework. Then in 1922, it created several new departments, including the Department of Educational Sociology. The department offered courses in community organization and leadership, rural sociology, and Americanization of immigrants. In 1925, the department was dissolved and its coursework absorbed by the Department of Sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences.
