The Department of Agricultural Engineering was established by the College of Applied Science in 1921. Ernest D. Partridge served as department chairman from 1921 to 1923.

Functions

The purpose of the Department of Agricultural Engineering was to prepare students to solve the elementary mechanical and engineering problems that were common in rural communities. Courses included: farm mechanics, roads, irrigation and drainage, and U.S. methods of land subdivision.

The department was administered by a department chair, under direction of the college dean.
