In 1909, the Kindergarten Department and the Department of Pedagogy combined into the Courses in Education in the Normal School of Brigham Young University. It was responsible for all the coursework formerly administered by the two departments. In 1910, it also absorbed the Arts and Manual Training coursework.

The Courses in Education department was responsible for the teaching Kindergarten Theory, Kindergarten Practice, Theory of Teaching, Training, Nature Study, Manual Training, and Drawing.
