The College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences was established in 1973 when the College of Physical and Engineering Sciences split into the College of Engineering Sciences and Technology and the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Since 1973, the college has been administered by the following deans and acting deans: Jae R. Ballif, Eliot A. Butler, J. Rex Goates, Grant W. Mason, William E. Evenson, Bill R. Hays, Earl M. Woolley, and Scott D. Sommerfeldt.

Functions

The College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences was organized to offer Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, or Master of Science degrees encompassing the physical and mathematical sciences.

Assets and Administrative Structure

The College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences has been the administering body for the following departments: Chemistry, Computer Science, Geology, Mathematics, Physics and Astronomy, Statistics, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Mathematics Education, and Geological Sciences. The college is administered by a dean under the direction of the president of the university.
