The College of Education was established within Brigham Young University when the university reorganized in 1921 and continued in operation until it was established as the David O. McKay School of Education in 1997.

Functions
The College of Education continued under the same basic purposes of the School of Education: to train students for supervisory work, elementary teaching, high school instruction, or high school principalship.

The College of Education was the administering body for many different departments during its years of operation: list departments. The college was administered by a dean under the direction of the president of the university. Between 1921 and 1997, the deans of the College of Education were as follows: John C. Swenson, L. John Nuttall, Jr., Amos N. Merrill, Reuben D. Law, Asahel D. Woodruff, Antone K. Romney, A. John Clarke, Stephen L. Alley, Curtis N. Van Alfen, Ralph B. Smith, Dan W. Andersen, and Robert S.
