Brigham Young University. College of Commerce and Business Administration

The College of Commerce and Business Administration was organized within Brigham Young University in 1922. Before 1922 it operated as the Department of Commerce and Business Administration within the College of Arts and Sciences. The College of Commerce and Business Administration continued in operation until it was established under the name of the College of Commerce in 1929. Between 1922 and 1929, Harrison V. Hoyt was the dean of the college.

The College of Commerce and Business Administration was originally organized with the purpose to provide training for leadership in finance and industry as well as supplying the necessary skills for students to analyze business conditions, manage industries, and learn efficiency in office administration.
