Functions

The principal objective of the center was to improve the quality of a man's environment through research, training, and public information. This involves fostering and coordinating projects dealing with the monitoring, restoration, and maintenance of environmental quality in selected areas. The center was also involved in the instruction of students in environmental studies.

The center was run by a director who reported to the director of the Research Division as well as the dean of the College of Biological and Agricultural Sciences.
