The Career Education Program was established in 1975. In 1979 it became listed under the Nonmajor programs. It was a program which provided assistance in making academic and career choices to students without a declared major. The following individuals served as directors and chairmen: Richard A. Heaps (1975-1976), Elwood R. Peterson (1976-1984), Clyde E. Sullivan (1984-1990), and David M. Sorenson (1990-1992).

Functions

The Career Education Program functioned to inform and guide students in exploring and preparing for making educational and career choices. Most of those helped were individuals without declared majors. Classes and workshops taught decision-making and life-planning skills. At the time of its establishment, courses offered were Practical Decision making and Education-Occupational Exploration Laboratory.
