The Benefits Office was organized in 1968 in University Personnel Services.  Its functions included the orientation of employees concerning benefits available, assisting in enrollment in insurance programs, issuing parking stickers and activity cards, issuing bookstore discount cards and Dairy Laboratory id cards, administration of Remembrance Funds and tuition programs, enrollment of new employees in the United Fund, preparation of handbooks for staff and administrative personnel, applying for medical and retirement benefits, etc.  The greatest of these benefits is assistance with tuition for the faculty and their children.  The Benefits Office took some responsibilities from the Benefits Committee when formed, such as conducting research and performing ongoing research and evaluation for improvements.  Jay Adamson was the director 1970-1985 and Carole Walker 1985-1990.  In 1990, University Personnel Services became Human Resource Services and the Benefits Office became known as Benefits Administration with Jay A. Adamson as the Managing Director.
