Auxiliary Services was created in 1958 to manage some of the business units formerly governed by Student Personnel Services. These units included Student Housing, Food Service, Photo Studio, Post Office, Purchasing Department, Stores and Receiving, Students Supply Association, and University Press.

From 1966 to 1968, the organization of Auxiliary Services was altered slightly to become Auxiliary and Communication Services. Food Service, Post Office, Purchasing Department, and Stores and Receiving remained under Auxiliary Services while Broadcast Services, Communication Systems, Educational Media Services, Motion Picture Production, Photo Studio, and University Press fell under Communication Services.

In 1968, Auxiliary Services came under the direction of Business Affairs. By 1970, it was dissolved completely and its services were assigned to other entities.
