The Advisory Committee on Women's Concerns was organized to be a service for women to come with concern about school and social issues. The committee was dissolved in 1984, and many of its functions were taken on by the Women's Research Institute. Chairman of the committee included Ardeth Kapp (1980-1982), Leslee A. Swendsen (1982-1984).

Functions

the functions for the Advisory Committee on Women's Concerns' main functions are a as followed: a)Investigate and suggest ways in which women students might better comprehend their abilities and achieve their potential;b)Identify problem areas with regard to the status of women at BYU; c)Consider and suggest possibilities for implementing administration approved recommendations of previous committees; d)Suggest ways for including women's studies and concerns and materials in existing curricula and programs; e)Channel information to President's designated assistant on issues, bibliography, conferences, courses, and other items relating to the problems and needs of women students and employees; f)Suggest ways by which the University could be better informed about qualified women who might make a significant contribution to BYU – either as employees or as visiting lecturers and speakers; g)Suggest ways for informing faculty and staff about women's accomplishments and the University's efforts to assure fair treatment for women.
