BYU Agriculture Station

Formerly Agricultural Operations, the BYU Agriculture Station was created in 1981 by the College of Biology and Agriculture to oversee and administer Brigham Young University agricultural facilities including the Ellsworth Meat and Livestock Center, the BYU Laboratory Farm, and the BYU Skaggs Research Ranch. Program directors included: Max V. Wallentine (1981-1997), William L. Park (1997-1999), and R. Kent Crookston (1999-2002). The Agricultural Station and all campus agricultural units were handed over to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2002.

Functions

The BYU Agriculture Station provided teaching and research in basic and applied agriculture and managed the Agriculture Station facilities. These included animal science, agronomy, and horticulture projects near Provo- including the Ellsworth Meat and Livestock Center, the 793-acre BYU Laboratory Farm near Spanish Fork, Utah and the 9,388-acre BYU Skaggs Research Ranch near Malta, Idaho.
