The BYU-California Adult Education Center was established in Southern California in order to allow more opportunities for individuals to participate in BYU classes. It's name was changed after a short time to the BYU-California Center for Continuing Education. R. Wayne Shute served as chairman.

Functions

The BYU-California Adult Education Center was established to offer BYU classes to individuals in Southern California. The center provided all of the major programs offered by the other adult education centers. Courses could be taken either for credit or noncredit. Individuals could participate in Education Weeks in Southern California, receive help and information on travel study, home study, publications and audio-visual materials, etc.
