The Department of Family Economics and Home Management was introduced to the College of Family Living in 1970. The Department Chairs were: Virginia F. cutler (1970-1972)and Gary D. Hansen (1972-1978).

Functions

To offer courses designed to: 1) Serve curriculum needs of other departments—contributing particularly to the training of prospective teachers in home economics, marriage and family counselors, social workers, and missionaries. 2) Assist students in group housing or in home situations to assess their human and nonhuman resources and make the most effective use of them through application of basic economic and management principles. 3) Provide a systematic study plan for students pursing work toward the baccalaureate and M. S. degrees preparatory to doing professional work in home extension, consumer services, education, business, and international home science programs.
