The Preservation Department split with Conservation in 1992. The Conservation Department was placed under new proposed Special Collections Division in 1992, and in 1997 when the Special Collections department was officially organized, the Conservation Department functioned under it. The department chair of Conservation was Robert Espinosa (-1997), who was replaced by Mark Pollei (1997-). The Assistant University Librarian is Scott Duvall (1997-)
