The Students' Supply Association was organized as a department of the university in the 1906-1907. This was largely due to student requests in favor of sending directly to publishing and supply houses for books and other supplies to get them at better prices. However, even after the organization of the Board of Directors, the bookstore was largely an orphan operation in that it was not a part of any academic college or specific administrative organization. So, in July of 1961, it was decided to put the bookstore under the direction of Auxiliary Services. Students' Supply Association managers included Berry Maycock (1906-1912), Earl J. Glade (1909-1915), Herald R. Clark (1915-1952), and H. Neil McKnight (1952-1961).
