Under Executive Director Kelly C. McDonald, the University Computing Services were reorganized into the Information Technology Services in 2000. McDonald continued to serve as the executive director until 2001, when the department was once again reorganized, this time as the Office of Information Technology. McDonald was asked to serve as the Assistant Information Technology Vice President of the new department.

The Information Technology Services monitored and answered the campus community's technology needs in personal communications, media resources, and computing services. These include Internet services, telephone and voice mail, and media equipment.
