Brigham Young University. General College

The General College was established in the Fall of 1958. Those who served as deans of the college included Wayne B. Hales (1958-1964), Ernest C. Jeppsen (1964-1966), Lester Whetten (1966-1972), and C. Terry Warner (1972). In the summer of 1972 the General College changed its name to the College of General Studies.

The major purpose of the college was to provide programs of general education and semi-professional and technical training to students with an undeclared major.

The college was administered by a dean under the direction of the president of the university.
